Evelyn Brown Sherr, great-granddaughter of Nate and Loulie, was born in Dublin, GA, she grew up on the Atlantic coast of Florida.  After graduating from Emory University in Atlanta, she earned a PhD in zoology with a focus on ocean ecology at Duke University In Durham, NC.  She was a research scientist at the University of Georgia Marine Institute on Sapelo Island from 1974 to 1990.  She is the author of a book on the natural history of the Georgia coast, Marsh Mud and Mummichogs, published by the UGA Press in 2015
