# 5 Sunday morning
My dear little pet,
I do not know where you are, but hope this letter will reach you in time for you to grant its request; it may seem strange to you, to receive such a request from me, but it is made at the instance of Messrs. Hull and Mathews. Mr. Hull and myself called to see Miss Josie Morton [1] on yesterday. She says 'If you will go up for her on Thursday she will return to Long Bluff with you on Friday,' and on Saturday we will all go down to 'Dixie'. Messrs. H. and M. say you must be sure and go if you return home in time. You don't know my own darling little pet how very unhappy I am. I feel like one forsaken by all the world
when you are away from me. Please, oh please! hasten the day when you and I will meet to part no more. Oh! how I do hope! that kind providence will guide M. Williams to your house on Saturday. I know if he is there you will not object to bestowing upon your darling the priceless pearl he so much longs to call his own sweet wife. I received the heart-cheering little note from Thorn Hall [1]. Had I known you intended stopping at that place for any length of time I would have gone on with you. You asked "if I was better pleased with that than former one". You may let the little heart answer the question that beats only in response to my own. I know it will tell the feeling of my own.
Goodbye my darling love till we meet again. I remain your own darling boy,
